Description

This is a set of celtic avatars I did recently. This is more or less my end of year present to deviants. :]
The zip file contains the 8 different images.

You are FREE to use them within deviantArt (well, if you want to give me points, that's welcomed =p )

If you wish, you can also add a line in your signature/journal saying "avatar from ..." + the url to here, but that's not compulsory, just do as you wish.

About the knotworks:
- Knot 1 is a "personal" design, meaning I didn't look at any reference to do it, but it's so simple that I think everyone drew it once.
- Knot 2 is based on a design from the Book of Durrow, referenced from George Bain's "Celtic Art - The methods of construction" book.
- Knot 3 is based on a design from the Monymusk reliquary, referenced from the same book as above.
- Knot 4 is also a personal design. I tried to link in a single line two figure-eight knots.

BTW, I know menhirs are not really from the same civilisation as the one that did the knotworks, but I wanted to add one anyway ;)
I did the triskels with the swirls that "touch" the other, so I could make it look like clover leaves. The "dA colours" version is for people that like discreet avatars.

Everything above was done with Inkscape and GIMP. I tried my best to make the knots "legible" even in 50*50px.
